New IPOC Announced for Canada
The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) Headquarters is pleased to announce the appointment of Andy Wong as the International Point of Contact (IPOC) for Canada. He succeeds Brian Bukowski, who has resigned as IPOC after successfully serving as IPOC since September of 2020.
Wong, whose home club is Target Sports Canada, lives in Richmond Hill, Ontario. He will be responsible for all provinces in the country. He is classified in SSP/SS, ESP/EX, CO/EX and has been shooting IDPA since May of 2016. He says he was attracted to IDPA because, “It was actually the extra fun of action shooting (very different from bullseye or typical target), practical skills development, gear interest and opportunities to know more people in different communities”.
His plans and goals for the area are to be an integral part of Canada IDPA team, and to grow the IDPA membership and sport. He says his preparation includes mentoring from the previous IPOC. “Brian has been my mentor since 2018, trained me to be a good SO and has helped me grow since to be his successor – it is sad to see him go. Thank you very much Brian, and wish you continued success in your new endeavor!”
In his spare time, Andy spends time with his family, as he has been happily married since 2002, and also enjoys the shooting sports, travel, and teaching. He is an accountant by vocation and also teaches some classes.
