New IDPA Area Coordinator for West Coast
Fred Mowrey from Elk Grove, CA, has been appointed as the new IDPA Area Coordinator for CA, WA, and OR, effective immediately.

A member of the Sacramento Defensive Pistol Shooters, Fred shoots in the following divisions: SSP/MA; ESP/MA; CDP/MA; CCP/EX; BUG/EX; REV/EX; and PCC/MM.
Mowrey says, “I’ve been competing in IDPA since June of 2002. I initially started at the encouragement of a friend in law enforcement in order to maintain and improve what I learned in academy training. I have since been on the journey to be the best competitor and ambassador I can be for the sport.”
“My goals include: 1) Get all clubs in my area to fully follow the current rulebook and any future iterations; 2) Strengthen clubs throughout the Area and rebuild clubs that had previously existed; 3) Increase national and international interest in shooting major competitions throughout the U.S. West Coast.”
The new AC is a CEO of a security company, the Vice President of a firearms training company, and a volunteer teacher of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for kids. Previously, he was an investigator for insurance companies which he said, “helped me to gather all the facts before making a decision, and that skill transfers well to IDPA.” Fred enjoys training in BJJ, exercise, and his primary pursuit in life is, “being an attentive husband, father, and care giver to our 3 kids, dog, and multiple rabbits and chickens.”
Fred has praise for the outgoing AC of his area. “I would like to thank Shaun Hescock for being a great resource to me and mentor in my previous duties as the Match Director of The Western regional IDPA championship. I hope to be as helpful and knowledgeable in sharing those qualities with our members throughout our area.”
