The below news, from the New Mexico Governor, impacts a large number of our registered shooters and some staff. With this news, we have decided that it is necessary to cancel the 2020 New Mexico Scorcher.
The governor announced yesterday a mandatory 14-day quarantine for all out-of-state travelers into New Mexico, whether traveling by air or by vehicle. Hotels and other places of lodging are expected to enforce the 14-day travel quarantine for any out-of-state visitors and report non-compliance to state health authorities.
This new health order creates a situation that would leave the match short staffed and result in low shooter attendance. Because this is a tier 4 match and providing a quality event is very important to us, we felt the very small amount of staff and participants would not provide the tier 4 experience that you deserve for the $125.00 match fee.
All paid shooters will be refunded. Please allow us some time to process the refunds within the Stripe system. The refunds typically take 3-10 days to credit your account.
I want to thank all those who have already done so much work to get us this far. The New Mexico Scorcher MD\’s, SOI\’s and area coordinator were always there with help and advice throughout this process. I would also like to thank the CSOs and SOs who graciously volunteered their time for the match and who have supported us from the beginning. Additionally, I would like to give a big thanks to our host range, The Del Norte Gun Club and their fearless leader Dawn Amdor for all of their support and for taking one in the wallet as a result of the cancellation.
This is a difficult decision to make and I know it could have been a match for the ages!
Hope to see you all in 2021,
2020 NM Scorcher Match Director
