RACINE IDPA – JUNE 21ST CLASSIFIER The next Racine IDPA Classifier is coming up this Saturday June 21, 2014. The match will be held outdoors at the Racine County Line Rifle Club. Directions can be found on our website at http://www. racineidpa.com. Please keep in mind that you must be a current member of the national IDPA in order to attend the match. Please read this announcement very closely as we have not run a match using this format any time in the past. Morning and Afternoon Flights It is our goal to provide a more enjoyable shooting experience and with that in mind this match will have a morning and afternoon flight. The morning flight will consist of the first 30 shooter who pre-register with the Eventzilla, a link is provided at the bottom of the announcement. The morning fight will begin at 9am, after the safety briefing and conclude approximately 12 noon. If you do not pre-register and want to shoot the morning session it will be on a space available basis only. It is strongly suggested that you pre-register if you want to shoot in the morning session. The afternoon flight will begin at 12:30pm after the safety briefing and conclude when the last shooter completes the classifier. Our goal is not have shooters spending the entire day for the Classifier, but rather the morning or afternoon. Regardless of the morning or afternoon flight you MUST attend the safety briefing at 8:45am or 12:15pm in order to shoot. Also, eye and ear protection is required for all shooters and observers. Due to the number of Shooters we typically have, Shooters may not run through the Classifier more than once. However, under IDPA?s current rules, a Shooter may have one Classifier match count towards multiple divisions, as long as the equipment and ammo used is legal in all of the divisions the Shooter wants the results to count for. As an example, A Shooter could use a Glock 21, chambered in .45ACP, and have the results count for SSP, ESP, and CDP. If the Shooter had a 1911 chambered in .45 ACP, the results could only count for ESP and CDP, as single-action semi-autos such as 1911?s are not legal for SSP. On the revolver side, a Shooter would have to use an SSR-legal revolver with ammunition that made a power factor of 165 in order for the Classifier to count for both SSR and ESR, as ESR requires the higher power factor. If you plan on having the Classifier count towards multiple divisions, please make sure to check with the Match Director to confirm that your equipment and ammunition are legal for all the divisions you?ve chosen, and make sure to mark all of your selected divisions on your score sheet. COURSES OF FIRE This month features an IDPA Classifier match. A Classifier match is a standard course of fire requiring 90 rounds. A concealment garment is NOT required. Feel free to review the Classifier stages in the IDPA Rulebook. The Classifier results will be submitted to IDPA headquarters. It is also suggested that you bring at least 120 rounds in case it is necessary to re-shoot a stage. NEW SHOOTERS If you are new to IDPA, we ask that you do not gear up until we meet to discuss basic IDPA safety and competition rules. As a reminder, we run a “cold range”- no firearms are to be loaded except under the command of a Safety Officer when it’s your turn to shoot a stage. Handguns can only be handled at the Safety Table or under the direction of an S.O. Also, there is NO handling of ammunition or ammunition carriers (mags, speedloaders, etc.) at the safety table. Failure to abide by these rules will result in a match disqualification. Please feel free to ask a Safety Officer or the Match Director if you have any questions regarding our safety rules. SAFETY OFFICERS We plan on 2 squads, and we need at least 6 people to step forward for each of the flights. If you can SO please email me at idpa_tom@comcast.net or Patrick Scalise at mnherro@gmail.com and/or post to the match event in the club’s Facebook group SET UP AND SAFTEY OFFICER SHOOT Set up will begin at 7am and any safety officer who wishes to shoot the classifier before the match can do so at 8am. Match Fee Pre-Registration is $16 for Racine IDPA members, $21 for non-members. Walk-up registration is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. RCLRC members will receive a $10 discount with proof of membership. MATCH DIRECTORS The match directors will be Mike Herro and Mark Silvinski. PRESIDENTS MESSAGE The Club?s current raffle is for a Springfield Armory XDm 5.25? in .45ACP. This is a fundraiser raffle, with proceeds going to Wisconsin Special Olympics. We plan on selling *at least* 100 tickets at $10 each, and will hold the drawing at the match where we hit that minimum number of tickets sold. The winner will be responsible for any shipping or dealer transfer fees, and all State and Federal laws apply. As of this email, we?ve sold 75 tickets. The 2014 WI State IDPA Championship will be held at Schultz?s on 09/20/2014. There is a limit of 99 non-staff Shooters, and slots are filling fast. If you intend to shoot this match, please make sure to get your match application and fee in as soon as you can. More information about the match, as well as applications, is available at: http://www.racineidpa.com/Racine_IDPA/W … nship.html If anyone has any suggestions for stages, please send them to idpa_tom@comcast.net. We?re always interested in additional stage designs, and while we can?t guarantee that they?ll be used at any particular match, the odds are good that they?ll be used eventually. Please keep in mind that designs may be modified to keep them legal for IDPA or to fit the range that the match is being held at.
