NE Regional Stage 12: Disco Fever

We wrap up DOWN ZERO's preview of the 2012 New England Regional IDPA Championship with the 12th and final stage of the match, the club themed stage 'Disco Fever.' Designed by Match Director Michael Joffe of MetroWest Tactical, this stage features 16 rounds scoring the best two on each of the 8 paper targets. Concealment is required, however, no bonus points for wearing a white polyester leisure suit.

SCENARIO: You are enjoying a (soft!) drink in a club when hell breaks loose. The only way out lies across the dance floor…

START POSITION: Seated at P1 back against the chair, both hands on the table, a drink in one hand. Firearm loaded to division capacity, holstered. Ammo carriers stowed on the body.

PROCEDURE: Stand up, draw, and engage targets T1-T3 with two rounds each from P1. Advance to P2 and engage T4 using cover. Advance to P3in the open and engage disappearing targets T5-T6, proceed to Cover position P3 and engage T7-T8.

SCORING:         Vickers, 16 Rounds Minimum
TARGETS:         8 IDPA, 2 Non-Threat
SCORED HITS:   Best 2 on Paper
START-STOP:     Audible-Last Shot

NE Regional Stage 11: Hide But Seek

Designed by the folks at MetroWest Tactical, Stage 11 calls for the best 3 hits on paper with 6 IDPA targets, and 2 non-threats thrown in for good measure. Did somebody say something about a flashlight?

SCENARIO: Having a good time in the office has never been easy.

START POSITION: Standing P1, hands relaxed at sides. Firearm loaded to division capacity, holstered. Ammo carriers stowed on the body. Flashlight turned off, stowed on the body.

PROCEDURE: On the buzzer, run to a table, pull it toward you and, using it as low cover, engage T1-T6 with at least 3 rounds each.

SCORING:         Vickers, 18 Rounds Minimum
TARGETS:         6 IDPA, 2 Non-Threat
SCORED HITS:   Best 3 on Paper

NE Regional Stage 10: Mind The Gap

Stage 10 is called 'Mind the Gap' and was designed by David Ritchie with MetroWest Tactical. Featuring 6 IDPA targets, 1 popper and 1 non-threat, you have to be where you have to be, all while minding that gap.

SCENARIO: Be where you need to be but prepare to cross the gap.

START POSITION: Standing at P1, facing downrange, hands relaxed at sides. Firearm loaded to division capacity, holstered. Ammo carriers stowed on the body.

PROCEDURE: Engage T1 through T6 with 2 rounds each. Popper behind T2 activates out and back T5.

SCORING:         Vickers, 12 Rounds Minimum
TARGETS:         6 IDPA, 1 Non-Threat, 1 Steel
SCORED HITS:   Best 2 on Paper, Steel Must Fall
START-STOP:     Audible-Last Shot

NE Regional Stage 9: Every Shot Counts

You've heard the saying, 'One Riot. One Ranger'? Well thanks to stage designer Gene Gelberger of MetroWest Tactical, we have this 18 round/18 target stage called Every Shot Counts. Think of it as 'One Riot. One IDPA Shooter'.

SCENARIO: While visiting a “gun-friendly country” you get attacked by rioters.

START POSITION: Standing at P1, hands relaxed at sides, firearm loaded to division capacity, holstered. Ammunition carriers stowed on the body.

PROCEDURE: Draw and engage T1-T18 with 1 round each.

SCORING:         Vickers, 18 Rounds Minimum
TARGETS:         18 IDPA, 2 Non-Threat
SCORED HITS:   Best 1 on Paper

NE Regional Stage 8: Road Rage

Designed by Aaron Haines of MetroWest Tactical, Stage 8 has competitors shooting from within the car...after the bad guys ran it off the road, of course. It's an 18 round stage with 6 targets and 2 non-threats. Buckle up kids, this one could get bumpy.

SCENARIO: Gang bangers are hell bent on killing you. In the chase they crashed your car and are coming at you for the closeup kill. Take them out...

START POSITION: Seated in the driver seat. Firearm loaded to division capacity, concealed in a compartment. Ammunition carriers stowed on body. Hands on the steering wheel at 10 and 2 o’clock.

PROCEDURE: Smash out (push) the windshield of the car with the strong hand. Retrieve the firearm and engage targets T1-T5 through the windshield and passenger window.

SCORING:         Vickers, 18 Rounds Minimum
TARGETS:         6 IDPA, 2 Non-Threat
SCORED HITS:   Best 3 on Paper
START-STOP:     Audible-Last Shot

NE Regional Stage 7: Where Did He Come From?

You know the famous line from the Untouchables: "Brings a knife to a gunfight." Well Stage 7, designed by David Ritchie of MetroWest Tactical, is all about a group of bad guys who made the mistake of bringing their knives to your gunfight.

SCENARIO: A bunch of attackers threaten you with knives and one suddenly charges at you. Defend yourself and yours.

START POSITION: Standing P1, hands relaxed at sides. Firearm loaded to division capacity, holstered. Ammo carriers stowed on the body.

PROCEDURE: Engage T1 and T2 while retreating to P2 or from cover at P2. Engage T3-T6 using available cover. Popper behind T4 activates charger T5. T5 is not visible until activated and is a disappearing target. If charger touches shooter, non-threat clamshell in front of T6 will activate.

SCORING:         Vickers, 12 Rounds Minimum
TARGETS:         6 IDPA, 2 Non-Threat, 1 Steel
SCORED HITS:   Best 2 on Paper, Steel Must Fall

NE Regional Stage 6: Barrel Retreat

Jim Martin designed this barrel-a-palooza for Stage 6 of the New England Regional IDPA Championship. Called Barrel Retreat, it's an 18 round stage featuring 9 targets with 3 non-threats thrown in for good measure. Tomorrow we take a look at another three stages as part of our course of fire preview.

SCENARIO: Sometimes retreat is the only way forward.

START POSITION: Standing at P1, hands relaxed at sides. Firearm loaded to division capacity, holstered. Ammunition carriers stowed on the body.

PROCEDURE: Draw and engage T1-T9 while moving. T1 and T2 must be engaged in tactical sequence, T3-T9 as they become visible. Shooter may change direction to advance, if needed, but all shots must be taken on the move. Barrels are visual barriers, no available cover on this stage.

SCORING:         Vickers, 18 Rounds Minimum
TARGETS:         9 IDPA, 3 Non-Threat
SCORED HITS:   Best 2 on Paper
START-STOP:     Audible-Last Shot
PENALTIES:       Per IDPA Rules
CONCEALMENT:  Required
