BERRYVILLE, Ark. – The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) and Smith & Wesson announced that Debbie Singer has been named the Assistant Match Director for the 2015 S&W IDPA Indoor National Championship. Singer’s selection as Assistant Match Director marks the first time a woman has taken on the role for an IDPA national championship match in the organization’s 19-year history.

One of the most recognizable women in IDPA where she in not only one of a handful of Safety Officer Instructors, and one of only two women serving in that role, but also a dedicated volunteer working at least five major matches a year, Singer has been active in the sport for the last five years. During her career she has served in nearly every match administrative position earning her the respect of competitors and match staff alike, as well as giving her a unique perspective when it comes to running a major championship.

“Debbie has been part of the IDPA championships hosted by Smith & Wesson for several years now. Her dedication to the sport, her innate leadership skill and her ability to see the match from the competitor’s perspective makes her a natural choice to help oversee this year’s Indoor Nationals,” said Paul Pluff of Smith & Wesson.

“Smith & Wesson has always focused on the female shooter with specially designed models, strong female representation on our shooting team and a woman captaining that team. It’s only fitting that Smith & Wesson is once again leading the way as IDPA marks this new milestone.”

Singer will work side-by-side with with Bob Stonehill who is serving as this year’s Match Director.

“Smith & Wesson has always been a leader when it comes to recognizing the important role of women in the shooting sports. To be named as the first female assistant match director of an IDPA national match is a tremendous privilege made even more special by the fact that it comes from Smith & Wesson,” said Singer.

The Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship serves as the official start of the IDPA season. The 2015 match will take place February 26-28 and draws upwards of 350 of the best IDPA shooters to Springfield, Massachusetts to compete on the indoor ranges of the Smith & Wesson Shooting Sports Center.

HOUSTON, Texas – When it comes to a holster for use in competition or for carrying concealed Comp-Tac Victory Gear remains the top choice among IDPA members, according to the results of the equipment survey conducted by the International Defensive Pistol Association during their 2014 National Championship this past September. This is the third year in a row that Comp-Tac was named the number one holster brand in both categories.

The survey found that among the 38 holster brands used in the competition, almost half (43.70%) of the 341 respondents shot the match using a holster manufactured by Comp-Tac Victory Gear, a leading maker of holsters for the personal defense and competition market.

When it comes to the preferred choice in a concealed carry holster, Comp-Tac was once again the clear favorite among the 57 brands mentioned with 25.36% of respondents indicating they rely on Comp-Tac holsters for their CCW needs.

In addition to being named the number one brand of competition and concealed carry holster for the third year in a row, results from the 2014 IDPA National Championship equipment survey show that Comp-Tac continued to gain market share over its competitors with this influential group of top shooters.

“The competition market is one of the key parts of the Comp-Tac business. These shooters are instrumental in helping Comp-Tac make great holsters providing a constant source of feedback for improvements and innovations,” explained Gordon Carrell, General Manager and Comp-Tac Team member.

“To be voted the top holster brand in both competition and concealed carry segments at the Nationals is a huge honor and we are thankful to all the customers who help us make our products the best on the market.”

The 2014 IDPA National Championship equipment survey was conducted among the 355 competitors with 341 indicating a competition holster preference and 209 indicating a concealed carry holster preference.

To see the Comp-Tac line of competition and concealed carry holsters during the upcoming SHOT Show, visit Comp-Tac on Monday, January 19 at the NSSF Media Day At The Range event or the Comp-Tac booth (#2051) Tuesday through Friday, January 20-23, of SHOT Show.

BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Bob Stonehill will take the reigns of one of IDPA’s three national championship events, the prestigious 2015 Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship, according to an announcement made today by officials with the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) and Smith & Wesson.

Stonehill will oversee the event in his roll as match director. Because of the prominence of the Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship, now in its 18th consecutive year, as well as its place as one of the premier events in all the shooting sports, the job of overseeing the match is viewed among the most important in competitive pistol shooting.

“Smith & Wesson is proud of our 18 year history of hosting the Indoor Nationals. “We’re very pleased to have the 2015 Indoor Nationals headed by an experienced and highly regarded member of the IDPA community. Bob Stonehill has been an integral part of our championship events here at Smith & Wesson and I cannot think of a better person to help us kick off our 18th Indoor Nationals.”

A former law enforcement professional with over 30 years as a firearms and tactics instructor, Stonehill has spent the past 20 plus years as a competitive shooter and has worked closely with IDPA and Smith & Wesson to put on the IDPA Indoor Nationals. He also worked with the S&W team to develop the first ever Smith & Wesson IDPA Back Up Gun Nationals in 2013, serving as Assistant Match Director for both the 2013 and 2104 matches. A regular at New England area matches, Stonehill volunteers at many state and regional top tier matches and has served on the match staff of the IDPA U.S. Nationals.

“It is a great honor to be handed responsibility for such an important match and I deeply appreciate the support and confidence both IDPA and Smith & Wesson have shown in selecting me to head the 2015 Indoor Nationals,” said Stonehill.
