This is the third year for the Music City Cup, which continues to grow as a must-attend match on the IDPA calendar. This year’s match will feature a 10-stage course of fire and is expected to draw several of the region’s top competitors.

Springfield Armory Sponsors Smith & Wesson IDPA Back Up Gun Nationals

BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Springfield Armory, one of the most recognized names in competition shooting, will be a major sponsor of the Smith & Wesson IDPA Back Up Gun Nationals, according to the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA).

Springfield Armory joins Apex Tactical Specialties, Harris Publications, Michigan Ammo Company, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the Self Defense Association, SIG SAUER and Smith & Wesson, the title sponsor, in supporting this latest IDPA national championship event. As part of their support, Springfield Armory will host the hospitality suite for competitors and staff.

SCENARIO: You are coming home from a night of undercover work. When you are walking to your front door, you are greeted by home invaders.

PROCEDURE: Start standing at P1 hands relaxed at your side. pistol holstered and loaded to division capacity.

At the signal, engage T1 and PP1 while utilizing cover at P1. Move to P2 and engage threats while utilizing cover to clear the house. Move through your house and engage remaining threat targets utilizing cover. Any legal IDPA reload is available.

SCENARIO: You are caught off guard with some thugs that want your money. Dispatch them and then protect yourself against his gang.

PROCEDURE: Start at P1, pistol loaded to division capacity and holstered. Facing up range with hands in the surrender position.

At the signal, turn, turn and engage T1- T2 and PP1 in any order while retreating to P2. At P2, engage T3 from port window while utilizing cover. Move to P3 engage T4-T6, utilizing cover. Move to P4, engage T7 while using low cover. Any legal IDPA reload is available.

BERRYVILLE, Ark. – The Self Defense Association (SDA), which provides training and educational resources, up-to-date information on state firearms laws, and financial support to such organizations as Project Child-Safe, has signed on as one of the major sponsors of the Smith & Wesson IDPA Back Up Gun Nationals.

PROCEDURE: Start standing at P1 with hands in surrender position. Pistol holstered and loaded to division capacity.

At the signal, engage T1-T3 in tactical sequence with 2 rounds each while retreating to P2 or P3 (your choice) and engage targets remaining targets while utilizing cover. Move to the opposite side barricade and engage targets utilizing cover. Any IDPA legal reload is available.

SCENARIO: Disturbance in the house while you are watching TV. Protect your kids while handling the thugs threatening your eminent domain.

PROCEDURE: Start sitting on bed with back on the pillow, legs straight to the TV. Pistol loaded to division capacity in nightstand along with magazines/speed loaders.

At the signal, retrieve your pistol from P2 and stop the visible intruders (T1-T2) already in your bedroom with two rounds without hitting your spouse. Stow magazines. Move to P3 and engage remaining threats (T3-T8) threatening your daughter while utilizing cover. Any legal IDPA reload is available.

SCENARIO: Great day of work gone bad. You are eating lunch in the break room. You hear screams from you upper management and they are being assaulted by thugs. Remember, they are directly in control of your raise next month.

PROCEDURE: Start with pistol loaded to division capacity. Pistol is holstered and magazines in mag holders. Back in seat and palms flat on the table.

At the signal, draw pistol and engage threats (T1-T3) from the seated position in tactical sequence. Advance to P2, engage threats (PP1/PP2) using tactical priority. PP1 will activate running target (T4). PP1/PP2 can only be engaged from P2 (safety concerns). Move through the office stopping the bad guys (T5 thru T8) while utilizing cover. Any legal IDPA reload is available.
