Glenn Shelby Takes CDP Title At S&W IDPA Indoor Nationals

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Team Wilson Combat returned to the winner’s circle at the Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship as Glenn Shelby claimed the Custom Defensive Pistol title this past weekend in Springfield, Mass.

Shelby, who competes as a Distinguished Master in the division, previously won the CDP title in 2012 and is currently the reigning IDPA National Champion. He won the 2014 Smith & Wesson Indoor Nationals CDP title with a final time of 201.51 seconds with 82 points down.

“Glenn is just such a talented shooter that he makes winning in CDP look easy. It is with great pleasure that I join his fellow competitors and all IDPA members in congratulating him on his victory,” said Joyce Wilson, executive director of IDPA.

Second place in the division, finishing just 4.16 seconds out of first, was David Olhasso, a Distinguished Master shooting for Team Smith & Wesson, with 205.67 (86). Third in the division went to Robert Evans the first Master with 234.45 (87). Rounding out the top five were Team Smith & Wesson’s Dan Burwell, also a Distinguished Master, with 239.86 (104) and Team Colt’s Mark Redl with 241.19 (90).

Elsewhere in the division, Nicholas Henry finished first Expert with 244.51 (158). David Galante took home first Sharpshooter with 298.22 (124), while Andy Holton claimed first Marksman with 331.08 (151). Junior shooter Austin Proulx won High Press honors with 276.52 (104).

Lentz Repeats With SSR Win At 2014 Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor Nationals

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – With a final time of 240.18 seconds with 78 points down, Team Smith & Wesson’s Josh Lentz captured the Stock Service Revolver title for the second year in a row and the fourth time in his career competing in the Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship.

Lentz, who also shoots for the XS Sight Systems shooting team and is a Distinguished Master within the division, previously won the SSR title in 2010, 2011 and 2013.

“Josh finished with another outstanding performance, bringing his total number of Indoor National title wins to four – a record that I am sure will grow larger and larger over the coming years,” said Joyce Wilson, executive director of IDPA.

Finishing second behind Lentz was Ken Ortbach who placed first Expert with a time of 260.30 (70). Joe Linskey, the SSR Distinguished Master who won the title in 2012, finished third with 262.00 (91). Rounding out the top five were Caleb Giddings, first Master, with 288.79 (125) and Juan Cheng with 289.72 (100).

Elsewhere in the division Matt Holmes captured first Sharpshooter with 310.12 (90) while Francis Dufault took first Marksman with 450.06 (227).

SCENARIO: You are on vacation with friends boating to a cabin deep in the woods, when a group of marijuana growers decide that you are a threat to their livelihood and attempt to prevent you from getting too close to their crop.

PROCEDURE: P1, seated in boat, gun loaded to division capacity at low ready. Spare ammunition is on your belt.

On the signal, engage targets with 2 rounds each, in tactical priority.

SCENARIO: You and your friends arrive at the cabin. After unpacking, you are relaxing in front of the fire when the marijuana growers show up to exact revenge.

PROCEDURE: Start sitting at P1. Empty gun and ammo carriers in table drawer.

At the signal, retrieve the gun and ammo from the drawer. You MUST take ALL the ammo, no reloading from the drawer. Ammo is to be stored on the body. Charge the gun, move to either of the shooting positions and engage the visible targets with 2 rounds each, in tactical priority. Then move to the other shooting position and engaging the remaining available targets with 2 round each, also in tactical priority.

NOTE: muzzle must remain above the orange line when opening the door.

SCENARIO: You are working at your company, a plumbing supply house, that stores lots of copper tubing and scrap metal. Hearing a sound, you look out the window onto the warehouse floor and are horrified to see two of your employees running from gun-wielding hooligans. Protect them!

PROCEDURE: P1, holstered, loaded to division capacity, hands clasped over your mouth in horror.

At the signal, engage T1-T4 with 2 rounds to the body and one round to the head of each target.
