SCENARIO: You stop into a rest area off the highway to utilize their clean, “sanitary” port-a-potty. While inside you hear a ruckus outside near the hedge row and thru a crack, you see 6 gang members attacking your family. Using surprise tactics, you open the door and save your family. Much like “Buckshot Roberts” did in the outhouse scene in the movie, “Young Guns”

PROCEDURE: Start sitting at P1, firearm loaded to division capacity and resting on either left or right shelf. Magazines or speedloaders stowed in ammo carriers on belt.

On the signal, kick the “porta-potty” door open, retrieve firearm from shelf and engage T1 thru T6 freestyle.

Live Free Or Die Stage 3: Taken

SCENARIO: You are on a luxury yacht for a party when criminals board, take your daughter hostage and start threatening you and others. Retrieve your weapon and fight to save your daughter, much like they did in the movie Taken.

PROCEDURE: Start standing at P1, hands relaxed at side. Handgun loaded to division capacity & placed in the box on table, magazines or speed loaders placed on table.

On the signal, stow your magazines or speedloaders in your ammo carriers, retrieve your firearm from the box, and through the port, engage T1-T3 in tactical sequence, with two rounds each. (Steel popper behind T1 activates T3 drop turner.) Move to P2 and from prone shooting position, engage S2, T4, T5, T6 & T7 in tactical priority. T4 becomes visible when S2 is hit. (shooting out its leg).

Live Free Or Die Stage 2: Where Eagles Dare – “Broad Sword Calling Danny Boy”

SCENARIO: You’re entering a corridor when you are attacked by gang members. You must defend yourself, while your buddies exit for safety. Much like they did in the movie, “Where Eagles Dare,” when Lt. Morris Schaffer (Clint Eastwood) was defending the corridor to the radio room, while Major John Smith (Richard Burton) was on the radio calling for extraction. He had to buy him some time before blowing up the radio and repelling down the cliff face.

PROCEDURE: Start at P1. Hands placed on the “X”s, gun loaded to division capacity, holstered, and magazines or speedloaders stowed in ammo carriers on belt.

Engage targets from P1 cover. Steel activators must fall.

Live Free Or Die Stage 1: Unforgiven – “Clear the Cantina”

SCENARIO: In an unfamiliar part of town, you enter an establishment for food and drink, only to find you are not welcomed. Profanity and threats are thrown at you and the mob descends on you. Defend yourself, much like Clint Eastwood did in the movie, “Unforgiven.”

PROCEDURE: Start at P1, both hands placed on the X’s on the saloon doors, firearm loaded to division capacity, holstered, and magazines or speedloaders stowed in ammo carriers on belt.

On the signal, enter the cantina advancing towards P2, draw and engage T1-T3 in the open. Then, advance to P3 and engage T4-T6 in tactical priority, using the piano as cover.

King of New England Stages Announced For 2014 Live Free Or Die

BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Organizers of the Smith & Wesson Live Free Or Die State IDPA Championship, taking place October 17, 18 and 19, announced the four stages that will make up the final leg of this year’s Apex King of New England series.

The Live Free Or Die State IDPA Championship is the final leg of a three match King of New England series which is once again presented by Apex Tactical Specialties. The three event concurrent competition features four (4) stages from each of New England’s biggest IDPA matches.

“The Live Free Or Die is pleased to once again serve as the final match in the popular King of New England series,” said Jon Wolfe, match director for the championship which will be hosted by the Pioneer Sportsmen Club in Dunbarton, N.H.

The stages counting towards the 2014 King of New England title will be:

Stage 1 – Unforgiven
Stage 5 – Temple of Doom
Stage 7 – Live Free Or Die Hard
Stage 10 – Inception

Registration Opens Today For S&W Live Free Or Die State IDPA Match

BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Online registration for the 2014 Smith & Wesson Live Free Or Die State IDPA Championship opens today, Monday, July 21, at noon eastern time at www.MatchReg.com.

Hosted again by the Pioneer Sportsmen Club in Dunbarton, New Hampshire, last year’s Live Free Or Die sold out in record time. Match officials expect another sell out this year and encourage IDPA members to register as early as possible once online registration goes live at noon. The match will take place October 17-19, 2014.

In addition to determining the state title, the Smith & Wesson Live Free Or Die will also serve as the final leg of the popular King of New England contest presented by Apex Tactical Specialties. Dates Announced For 2014 S&W Live Free Or Die State IDPA Championship

BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Following last year’s wildly successful Live Free Or Die state match, Pioneer Sportsmen Club in Dunbarton, New Hampshire, has announced that the Blockbuster-themed 2014 Smith & Wesson Live Free Or Die State IDPA Championship will take place October 17, 18 and 19.

In addition to determining the state title, the championship will also serve as the final leg of the popular King of New England contest. The 18th Annual Massachusetts State Championship and the New England Regional, both sponsored by Smith & Wesson, make up the first and second legs, respectively, of the series.

“IDPA at Pioneer has seen tremendous growth since the program was revamped last year and we’re continuing those efforts this year. Thanks once again to the generous support of title sponsor Smith & Wesson, the 2014 Live Free Or Die State IDPA Championship is a must attend event for New Hampshire’s expanding IDPA community,” said Jon Wolfe, match director for the championship.

Yost Crowned King of New England After Live Free Or Die High Senior Win

BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Team Panteao’s Tom Yost wrapped up his run at the King of New England with a second place finish in the Enhanced Service Pistol division at the Smith & Wesson Live Free Or Die State IDPA Championship, claiming the High Senior title and his place in history as the first ever ESP King of New England.

Presented by Apex Tactical Specialties, the King of New England series recognizes the top shooters competing in the Massachusetts State Championship, the New England Regional and the Live Free Or Die, with the title going to the competitor with the top cumulative score, in their division, from four pre-selected stages from each of the three championships.

Yost previously won the ESP title at both the Massachusetts State Championship and the New England Regional, giving him a 26.23 second lead over Joe Linskey of team Wolff Gunsprings/Tactical Defense Solutions.

Yost finished the Live Free Or Die ahead of Linskey by 5.28 seconds with his final time of 258.82 (49) to Linskey’s 264.10 (26). In the King of New England series, Yost finished with a final combined time of 274.50, followed by Linskey with 305.36 and Nick Bedio with 332.40.

“Tom is arguably one of the best shooters in IDPA and now he has the King of New England title to prove it. Congratulations to Tom on taking High Senior at the Live Free Or Die and for being crowned King – Long Live the King,” said Ken Lambert, match director for the Smith & Wesson Live Free Or Die.

Elsewhere in the ESP division contest at the Live Free Or Die, Ed Stettmeier won the overall division title with 215.68 seconds and 38 points down. Joe Linskey took Most Accurate honors with just 26 points down. Terrance Robertson, an ESP Master, won High Distinguished Senior with 308.85 (110). Lance Boehlke finished first Sharpshooter with 352.82 (108). The U.S. Coast Guard’s Chad Barber took home High Military honors with 413.18 (79) competing as a Sharpshooter. Pasquile Vitetta Jr. finished first Marksman with 442.25 (123). Sandy Lincoln, the division’s only Novice, finished with 929.97 (360).

The sold out 2013 Smith & Wesson Live Free Or Die State IDPA Championship took place October 18-20 and was hosted by the Pioneer Sportsmen Club in Dunbarton, N.H.

Dolio Crowned King of New England After Smith & Wesson Live Free Or Die IDPA Championship

BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Dave Dolio won the King of New England Stock Service Pistol title after his second place finish at the Smith & Wesson Live Free Or Die State IDPA Championship this past weekend.

Dolio, who finished second to the Live Free Or Die’s SSP champion, Rob Lacroix, finished the match as first Master with six stage wins and a final time of 281.79 (83), giving him the King of New England title with a final combined time of 300.81 seconds.

Presented by Apex Tactical Specialties, the King of New England series recognizes the top shooters competing in the Massachusetts State Championship, the New England Regional and the Live Free Or Die, with the title going to the competitor with the top cumulative score, in their division, from four pre-selected stages from each of the three championships.

Dolio went into this weekend’s Live Free Or Die with a clear lead in the King of New England contest after winning the SSP title at both the Massachusetts State Championship and the New England Regional.

“Dave has had a great season and here in New England he’s usually the guy to beat. I want to join the rest of his subjects in congratulating him on being crowned the King of New England,” said Ken Lambert, match director for the Smith & Wesson Live Free Or Die.

Elsewhere in the SSP division contest at the Live Free Or Die, Mason Lane took first Expert and High Junior with 316.67 (72). Lee Adams won High Military Veteran with 329.48 (106). Albert Chin took first Sharpshooter with 366.31 (128). Tara Lyon added to her list of IDPA accomplishments this season with both the High Lady, 491.65 (151), and the Queen of New England titles. Daniel Veiner finished first Marksman with 493.79 (164). High International went to Jaime Carmichael of Nova Scotia with 534.42 (97), and Ralph Berrett placed first Novice with 686.45 (277).

Tara Lyon Takes High Lady, Queen of New England at the S&W Live Free Or Die IDPA Championship

BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Going into this weekend’s Smith & Wesson Live Free Or Die State IDPA Championship Tara Lyon was in the lead for the Queen of New England. After the match not only did she take the High Lady title but picked up the title of Queen as well.

Lyon, who competed as a Sharpshooter in the Stock Service Pistol division, finished the match with a final time of 491.65 seconds with 151 points down.

The Queen of New England series recognizes the top female competitor shooting in the Massachusetts State Championship, the New England Regional and the Live Free Or Die, with the title going to the woman with the top cumulative score from four pre-selected stages from each of the three championships.

Lyon also claimed the High Lady title at the Smith & Wesson New England Regional and finished second among the women competing at the Massachusetts State Championship.

“It’s good to be the King, but it’s better to be the Queen. Congratulations to Her Royal Highness, Queen Tara, on another outstanding performance...and Long Live the Queen,” said Ken Lambert, match director for the Smith & Wesson Live Free Or Die.

Lyon captured the Queen of New England title with a combined score of 545.82. Second place went to Dori Smith with 673.41 while third place went to Samantha Galante with 799.13.
