IDPA’s Joyce Wilson To Keynote 2013 A Girl & A Gun National Conference

AUSTIN, Texas – Julianna Crowder, president of A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League, announced that Joyce Wilson, executive director of the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), will be a keynote speaker at the inaugural A Girl & A Gun National Conference, Presented by Smith & Wesson.

As executive director of IDPA Wilson has guided the organization’s transformation into the fastest growing shooting sport in America, managed a member-driven review and update of the IDPA Rule Book and overseen the work on a new, soon to launch IDPA.com website that will provide greater value and support for IDPA clubs, match directors and the organization’s 21,000-plus members.

“As the only woman heading up a major shooting sports organization, Joyce Wilson has an impressive record of accomplishment and a unique perspective on the important role women play in the firearms community. The 2013 A Girl & A Gun National Conference, Presented by Smith & Wesson, will take place March 22-24 at T.I.G.E.R. Valley, the premiere training facility in Central Texas located in Waco. Sued To Photograph 2012 IDPA National Championships

BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Joyce Wilson, executive director of the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), announced today that the organization is once again working with popular shooting sports photographer Yamil Sued, who will be covering the action at this year’s IDPA National Championships.

“We are very pleased to announce that after the tremendous response we received from competitors at last year’s IDPA World Shoot, Yamil Sued will again be working with IDPA as our official photographer for the 2012 IDPA National Championships,” said Wilson.

Sued has nearly 30 years of experience as a professional photographer. IDPA To Preview Four National Championship Stages Starting Saturday

BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Next week’s International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) National Championships will bring together over 350 of the sport’s top competitors, all gunning for the coveted title of National Champion in one of its five divisions and 11 categories.

As the country’s fastest growing shooting sport, fueled by the increased demand in concealed carry permits and the need for personal protection, entry into the match is one of the most difficult, especially considering IDPA’s membership exceeds 20,000 and represents more than 50 nations.

To help bring the action of the 2012 IDPA National Championships to members across America and around the globe, IDPA announced it will provide an online preview beginning this weekend of stage designs from the match.

“Starting Saturday evening, September 15, we will preview one stage from the National Championships. Then each night after we will reveal another stage until the match officially begins on Wednesday, September 19. During the match on Wednesday and Thursday the remaining stage diagrams will be posted so members can review all 16 stages of the National Championships course of fire,” explained Joyce Wilson, executive director of IDPA.

IDPA members and others interested in the scenarios and stage designs featured in this year’s match should visit the DOWN ZERO blog, the official blog of IDPA, at 8:00pm ET September 15 through18. The remaining 12 stage diagrams will be posted on the blog throughout the day on Wednesday and Thursday, September 19 and 20.

“We want all IDPA members to see the state-of-the-art course design at this year’s National Championships. Our hope is that IDPA clubs and match directors will take advantage of this opportunity and share these creative and innovative stage designs with their local members,” added Wilson.

IDPA Costa Rica Invites You To Shoot The 2013 Costa Rican National Championship

BERRYVILLE, Ark. – With average February temperatures ranging from highs of 75ºF to lows of 59ºF, there’s no better time to visit Costa Rica, and IDPA Costa Rica is rolling out the red carpet for shooters with an invitation to compete in the 2013 Costa Rican IDPA National Championship.

Officials with IDPA Costa Rica and the International Defensive Pistol Association, the international governing body for IDPA competition, announced today that online shooter registration for the 2013 National Championship is now open.

“The Costa Rican IDPA National Championship will test all a shooter’s skills, with movers, disappearing targets, shooting from cars and the kind of stage props that make IDPA so fun to shoot,” promised Match Director Rodrigo Carvajal. “We invite our friends in the United States to come to Costa Rica and become part of our IDPA family, and with our volcanoes, rain forest and beaches so close by, we suggest you plan an extended stay and enjoy Costa Rican hospitality.”

The match takes place February 1-2 at the ranges of Rancho Arizona located just outside San Jose, Costa Rica, and will feature a 150-round course of fire over 12 challenging stages to be shot in a one day format. Top competitors from Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela, as well as the United States, are expected to attend, making this Costa Rica’s largest ever IDPA competition.

“The Costa Rican IDPA National Championship is in its fourth year and quickly becoming one of the major, must-attend matches outside the United States. About International Defensive Pistol Association:
Founded in 1996, the International Defensive Pistol Association is the international governing body for IDPA competition which offers shooters a fun, safe, and challenging format to practice and test their gun handling skills through defensive-based scenarios. Today IDPA stands as the fastest growing shooting sport in the United States with over 20,000 members from all 50 states and 54 foreign countries.
