BERRYVILLE, Ark. – The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) announced that Comp-Tac Victory Gear, a leading manufacturer of holsters for the personal defense and competition market, will sponsor the upcoming 2012 Carolina Cup championship.

Comp-Tac joins Remington Arms and Smith & Wesson, the Carolina Cup's two major sponsors, and Trijicon in supporting the championship and will sponsor two of the match's 16 stages. In addition to sponsoring the match, Comp-Tac will be represented in the competition by Team Comp-Tac members Gordon Carrell, Randi Rogers and the team captain, Gregg Garrett.

“Comp-Tac has generously supported IDPA competitions around the country, so it is no surprise that their holsters are among the most popular in use by IDPA shooters, both on and off the range. That's why we're extremely pleased to have Comp-Tac Victory Gear on board as a sponsor of the 2012 Carolina Cup,” said Scott Ruby, sponsor coordinator for the Carolina Cup.

“The Carolina Cup has proven to offer the best of Southern hospitality and IDPA’s top course design. This event is one of the biggest matches in IDPA each year and also one of the most challenging for participants looking to develop and test their personal defense shooting skills. Comp-Tac is proud to support the Carolina Cup and the shooting community through sponsoring matches and events each year.” said Gregg Garrett, founder and president of Comp-Tac Victory Gear.

The Carolina Cup, one of IDPA's three major championships, will take place June 14-16 at The Range in Oxford, North Carolina. More than 360 of IDPA's top shooters are expected to put upwards of 75,000 rounds downrange in pursuit of titles in Custom Defensive Pistol, Enhanced Service Pistol, Stock Service Pistol, Stock Service Revolver and Enhanced Service Revolver, the five divisions in IDPA competition.

Considered by many to be among the most popular matches in IDPA competition, the Carolina Cup is known for its challenging courses of fire that creatively test all of a shooter's skills. Saturday night after Day 2 of the NRA Show, Michael Bane - host of the Outdoor Channel's Shooting Gallery and one of the earliest members of IDPA - hosted a reception for IDPA at the Morgan Street Brewery. The room was packed with show exhibitors and friends of IDPA. Thanks to Panteao Productions guests went home with a copy of the Down Zero and IDPA World Championship DVDs, as well as a signed copy of Michael's book Trail Safe. A huge THANK YOU goes out to Michael Bane, and the Outdoor Channel, for graciously hosting a terrific get together with great friends...and really good beer.

Day 2 at the NRA Show was amazingly busy thanks to rain in St. Louis. With literally tens of thousands of people on the show floor, getting around for Team IDPA got to be a challenge. Thankfully we made it through another day and another round of meetings with sponsors and friends. Of course, for some people there always seems to be time to check out the guns.
