California State Championship '13 Stage 2: It Was A Prison Break

SCENARIO: Lucky to have survived your carjacking with only a GSW to the sup-port side arm, you are headed to cover at the back of the truck stop, when a desert rat steps out and asks if you heard about the prison break. Just then the last of the prisoners tries to finish you off.

PROCEDURE: Start standing at P1, support side arm limp at side. Gun is loaded with 6 rounds only, holstered and concealed, spare ammo on belt. Firing side hand is resting on non-threats shoulder holding him parallel to the ground.

At the signal, remove your hand, push the desert rat out of the way and engage the escapee with the remain-ing 6 rounds in your gun without hitting the non-threat.

SCORING: Limited Vickers Count
TARGETS: 1 IDPA, 1 Non-Threat
SCORED HITS: Best Six On Target

California State Championship '13 Stage 1: Rest Stop Nap

SCENARIO: Too cheap to get a room, you decide to pull over at an abandoned truck stop near Elko. You lock the doors, lay your loaded pistol at the ready on your passenger seat, and crack the windows to lay back for a nap. Just as you are falling asleep you hear gunshots and your passenger window is smashed in. You start to exit the vehicle when the carjackers appear at your windows brandishing handguns and attack dogs.

PROCEDURE: Start with gun loaded to division capacity, placed on the passenger seat and covered. Shooter is sitting in drivers seat with arms crossed on chest, back of head touching seatback.

At the signal, open drivers door and engage T1 (clamshell) and T2-T3 out the passenger window. Then, engage T4 – T7, and S1 & S2 out the drivers side in tactical priority, using the vehicle as cover.

SCORING: Vickers Count
TARGETS: 7 IDPA, 2 Steel, 1 Non-Threat
SCORED HITS: Best Two On Target, Steel Until It Falls

Registration Underway For The 2013 California State IDPA Championship

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Organizers of the 2013 California State IDPA Championship announced that registration is underway and slots are still available for the Golden State’s premier defensive pistol competition.

The California State IDPA Championship will take place Saturday, October 5 and is a fully sanctioned IDPA championship event limited to 150 total competitors classified Marksman and above. The match fee is $75, going up to $100 after September 1. Shooters interested in competing can download the match registration PDF.

Featuring 11 stages and 134 round count, the 2013 California State IDPA Championship will take place at the Sacramento Valley Shooting Center ( in Sloughhouse, Calif., the premier outdoor shooting range on the West Coast and the largest and best privately held range West of the Mississippi. The championship is being hosted by the Sacramento Defensive Pistol Shooters.

This year’s championship has received a great deal of support from the industry including generous contributions from premier sponsors Glock and LA Police Gear. In addition to competing for the five IDPA division titles, as well as Most Accurate, High Lady, High Junior, High Senior, High Distinguished Senior, High Industry, High Press, High International, High Military and High Law Enforcement, the match will include a prize table and raffle open to all competitors with prizes awarded by random draw.
