Many, many thanks to the Universal Shooting Academy (USA) ; host of the 2011 Inaugural World Championship.

IDPA’s first World Championship is finished and what a match it was. There were 27 challenging stages that required a minimum of 326 rounds per shooter. High heat with humidity that made feel as though you were drowning made even the simples stages much tougher. Unfortunately, circumstances required that three bays be dropped from the match but that still left 22 incredible stages. This year’s match included a huge number of moving targets from a single simple swinger on one stage to the stage “Shotgun” with 8 moving targets. Thank you Randy Rogers and the rest of the Florida guys for that great stage.
When you look at the fact that 387 people shot the match, we had a minimum of 101,781 rounds go downrange this year. We used over 2,300 targets for the match alone and that didn't include the BUG and Multi-Gun Side Matches. From all the comments we heard, shooters had a great time. Curt Nichols and Jerry Biggs were instrumental in making that happen. Please make sure to thank them for all their hard work the next time you see them.
Another round of applause should go to the folks that helped set up the match beforehand. Everyone involved with set up worked very hard, but there were three people we would like to point out for special notice. Gary Cuttitta, Dave Alexander and Toni Dandreamatteao went above and beyond. Toni worked his tail off the entire match and never was anything more than fun and upbeat. He helped keep us entertained and laughing the whole match. Gary and Dave were also invaluable as they worked like men possessed to ensure everything come together. Their tireless efforts made this a great experience for all our competitors.
There were an amazing 8,514 stage results handled by the main match stats crew. Many thanks to the whole stats shack crew! You did a wonderful job!
IDPA Headquarters works hard all year in order to put on the National Championship. Planning is continually occurring for matches in the future. Many thanks to Robert Ray, Dru Nichols, Sandra Tumbleson and Joyce Wilson for their tireless effort in planning this match and for continually serving the membership of the International Defensive Pistol Association. We also ask that you please remember the match sponsors when you are making purchases. They help make this match possible. The match sponsors are listed to the right.
