2006 IDPA Championship Results

Special thanks to the Central Arkansas Shooters' Association; host of the 2003 - 2006 IDPA National Championship.

The 2006 IDPA National Championship is complete.  According to all we've talked to, it was the best National Championship ever.  The match comprised of 18 stages that required 269 rounds to complete.  299 competitors fired over 78,817 rounds downrange.  This is the highest round count Nationals we've ever had.  In addition to the main match, there was the Smith & Wesson / Cor-Bon Back Up Gun Challenge as a side match.  205 competitors took the challenge to put another 4,100 rounds supplied by Cor-Bon downrange with a choice of two revolvers supplied by Smith & Wesson.  In 2005, we had the challenge of shooting during extremely hot weather and high humidity.  This year, we had to contend with the rain.  For a change, the safety officers and staff had the opportunity to shoot in during good weather, while some of the main competitors had to deal with rain.  Fortunately, there were no high winds to damage stage props.

Special thanks to match director John May and all his staff.  As usual, he and his crew did a great job.  As this is John May's last year as match director (after an unprecedented four year run), we would like to offer him a very sincere thank you for an often thankless job done very well.

We would also like to thank the people in the stats shack.  Lisa May and Jennifer Wilson did their usual wonderful job of entering over 5,300 stage results for the main match along with another 820 stage results for the Back Up Gun Challenge.  These ladies managed to get the final scores entered within two minutes of the last shot fired - and that two minutes included travel time for the score sheet from the last stage to the stats shack.  A big thanks to Ronda Ray for bringing us those score sheets!  Jane Fleming was a tremendous help in getting us set up with her scoring software and helping us enter scores so Lisa and Jennifer could take a break now and then.

The folks at Central Arkansas Shooters Association deserve a huge round of applause for all their efforts.  Not only did they get the grounds ready for the Nationals again, but they also have shown us what a club can do if the members want it done.  For the past four years, they've hosted the IDPA National Championship and done a wonderful job.  CASA has definitely earned accolades for their efforts on behalf of IDPA.  We offer a special thanks to all the people that helped put on this match and especially those listed below.
